WE-EF ZFY230 bollard pathway luminaires illuminating walkway at King's Bruton School at night with presence-based lighting control

Eco Step Dim® Motion

The right tool for demand-based lighting

Less light pollution, less energy consumption, less environmental impact – Eco Step Dim® Motion, the wireless solution for presence-based lighting control, is now also available for the WE-EF CTY100, KTY200, ZFY200 and CFY200 bollard and pathway luminaires. When installing bollard and pathway luminaires, the question arises whether the luminaires always need to shine at a constant brightness level to illuminate public parks, pathways, squares and terraces, or private gardens, driveways and front yards? Actually not. But when someone uses these pathways, they should feel safe and be able to see well.

Eco Step Dim® Motion uses PIR sensors (passive infrared) for capturing movement data. When presence is detected, the light level increases from a programmed, reduced lighting level to a predefined level, e.g. to 100%. This setting is maintained for a specified period of time and as long as people are moving in this area. When presence is no longer detected at a location, the luminaires are automatically dimmed. This allows optimal visibility conditions for users to be combined with maximum protection of the environment.

The technology for this is housed in a compact box that is vandal-protected within the bollard housing. Depending on the usage scenario, the luminaires can either operate as a stand-alone variant with their own motion detector, independent of their neighbors, or they can be networked together as a group. The slave version offers a cost-effective solution: only the first and last luminaire in a row is equipped with a motion detector.

Eco Step Dim® Motion stand-alone – Each luminaire has a motion detector that detects and responds independently of its neighbor. This enables larger distances between the luminaires for maximum energy savings.
Eco Step Dim® Motion linked-primary – Each luminaire has a motion detector. The luminaires are connected to each other and are switched on via the additional control phase when motion is detected. Ideal for high-security areas.
Eco Step Dim® Motion linked-secondary – Only the first and last luminaire in a row has a built-in motion detector. These switch on all connected luminaires via the additional control phase in each junction box when motion is detected. Cost-effective solution for medium security requirements.
