Union Station's Majestic Great Hall, Chicago
Durability for a high-traffic station
Union Station’s Majestic Great Hall in downtown Chicago is a grand, historic space that has served as a national railway hub for almost 100 years. Recently, the station has experienced a renaissance, with restoration projects that have increased capacity, accessibility, and safety. As part of this restoration, the City of Chicago worked with lighting designer Erin Held at Charter Sills to illuminate the great hall with durable and elegant lighting. WE-EF’s ETC140-GB inground luminaires were selected to create soft light in this Chicago landmark.

Solution
Using WE-EF’s very narrow optics, 15 ETC140-GB luminaires illuminate the tall pillars surrounding the great hall. Corrosion protection and factory sealing, paired with stable housings and outer lenses, ensure the ETC140’s robustness and longevity in a high-traffic area. Optimized optics provide superior illumination and glare control, providing visual comfort for the passengers awaiting their trains.
