Safety and security for a retail destination

Online furniture retailer Wayfair opened its first ever brick-and-mortar storefront this year in Wilmette, Illinois. The expansive 150,000-sq. ft. store includes two floors of retail space as well as a café and pocket park with ample outdoor seating.

Key considerations

To protect pedestrians, the entire vicinity of the store – from the entrance to the loading docks – is surrounded by WE-EF’s KTY234 security bollards. The 75 crash-rated bollards illuminate surrounding sidewalks, designed to withstand impact from cars and pick-up trucks traveling up to 40 miles per hour.

Results

Engineered to ASTM F2656 standards, WE-EF’s security bollards include a Shaw Stainless steel core. At each entrance to the store, there is a three-bollard array, 48 inches apart in the span of 12 feet to meet the crash rating. When shoppers enter the store, they are guided by soft illumination that ensures safety and security.
